Beard Jams: Capybara by Farewell Continental

What’s up all of you cool people? Todays song is called “Capybara”, and it’s by a band called Farewell Continental.

This track is pretty sweet. Has a great indie/alternative rock sound to it. I absolutely love both of the singers voice. Sometimes, I notice when bands have a male and female singer, one tends to outshine the other. I also find that I’ll like one of the voices, but not the other. With this band, this is not the case. Both voices are absolutely beautiful!

With this song, the lyrics and the voices really carry this song. The rest of the parts are good as well, but this song showcases the vocals and lyrics more than anything else.

The song has a great sound. I’ve always been a fan of indie and alternative rock. I really like the chorus. Pretty awesome stuff. The voices, and the music gets stronger, and it’s really cool. Yes, a chorus does typically get stronger, but sometimes you just can’t jive with it. You’re not feeling it. You can’t groove to it. With this song and the chorus, I can jive with it. The whole song just makes me want to dance, which is always a good indicator of a good song.

Additionally, if the male voice sounds familiar, that’s because it is Motion City Soundtracks very own lead singer, Justin Pierre! I’ve always been a fan of Justin. From his voice, his lyrics, all the way to his hair. Awesome person. Farewell Continental is a side project that he is involved with when he is not doing things with Farewell Continental. Just because it is a side project though, does not mean this stuff is not good. It packs all of the indie/alternative rock that Motion City Soundtrack delivers, just with a different spin on things.

Don’t just take my word for it. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Racer by Giorgio Moroder

Welcome back! It’s pretty hot temperature wise where I am today…and I don’t like it. Additionally, where I am has the chance for severe thunderstorms today…another thing I don’t like. However, I do like todays song. It’s entitled, “Racer”, and it’s by Giorgio Moroder.

This track is pretty sweet. It’s a very nice electronic track. One thing that sticks out to me from this song is the melody/synth thing going on. It’s quite catchy. A little annoying at times, but still catchy. The song immediately starts off pretty strong with a nice drum beat and the melody.

Then a soft part comes in. I’m really digging this part. The piano sounds are pretty sweet. Then all of a sudden, the first loud section combines with the second quieter section! It’s pretty sweet.

With this track, I think of driving on a highway right after it has rained on a summer evening. Almost sounds like it could be in a racing movie or video game. It’s a nice track that is catchy, but kind of haunting at the same time.

Don’t just listen to me though, check it out and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: À tout à l’heure by Bibio

Hey everyone! How are you all? I’m doing pretty well. Chilling, and eating good food. Anyways, I’ve got a fresh pick for you all today. It’s called “À tout à l’heure”, and it’s by Bibio.

As always, I’m really digging this song. It sounds like I’m getting lost in a field in the summer time, in a foreign place. I’m liking the sitar in the song. (That’s probably why it feels foreign to me.) The sitar is present throughout the entire song, and it really makes the song. I really think that is what gives this song its summer, mystical vibe.

I really like when the vocals come in. In my opinion, the vocals give this song a modern flare. Very alternative indie pop vocals. However, the vocals are not present throughout the entire song. I like this though. It gives the listener a chance to imagine the picture being painted with the music. Then, once we have that picture, vocals come back in to keep everything crisp and fresh.

Also, this song just has a nice beat that goes along with everything!

This song just has good vibes all over it. Very danceable. It’s a tad different, but different can be great when done right. In this instance, it feels very right. Fantastic stuff.

Don’t just take my word for it, listen to it for yourself and see what you think! Take care everyone!

Beard Jams: Perfectly by Ryan Hemsworth

What’s up everyone?! I’m doing pretty well today. Allergies are under control for the moment, and I’m enjoying delicious food while I’m home. You know what else is delicious? Todays song! It’s called “Perfectly”. It’s by Ryan Hemsworth.

This is the second time Mr. Hemsworth has been on Musicbeards! This track is pretty cool. Very fitting for a Sunday afternoon. Feels very laid back. Just like Sunday afternoons.

I love the beginning when the female goes, “I hope it works this time.” From there, the song only gets better with a nice beat that will make you move your head along with it. I also love the occasional bell sounds you hear in the song as well. This song is a great listen on a relaxing kind of day.

It’s very laid back, and chill. Especially in the beginning. During the songs most involved moments, it’s danceable, but still relaxed. (How many times am I going to say relaxed before this is over with?)

Overall, I’m really digging this track. It feels very fitting for a overcast Sunday. I also feel like at times it has a celebratory kind of feel as well. So, to all of you cool college graduates, listen to this song!

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe!

Beard Jams: Dreaming by Smallpools

Hey everyone! I’m officially done with finals, and I’m now back home! Being home is nice…except for allergies. Anyways, hopefully today’s song will help fight these allergies. It’s called “Dreaming.” It’s by a band from the U.S. called Smallpools.

Already I can tell this track is very summer like. It’s upbeat, and chock full of your daily dose of fun. The guitar part in the beginning is pretty cool. Definitely keeps me hooked into the song. Verses are pretty nice. Vocalist seems pretty good. The vocalist kind of reminds me of the lead singer from Passion Pit…a little bit.Chorus is very nice. Very energetic.

I can picture this song being a good song to perform live at a summer festival or show. Maximum dancing possibilities with this song. If you want your crowd to move along and dance, play and or perform this song.

Don’t just take my word for it though. See what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Gasoline by Alpine

What’s up everyone?! How is everyones Monday? I have just started finals here at school…so much fun. It’s not that bad though cause I’m really prepared for all of my finals this year. Anyways, take a break from studying and or your job and check out this awesome song called “Gasoline”. It’s by a band named Alpine.

I just heard about this band last week. We received their cd at our radio station. It’s not released for another week in the USA, but I will say it’s amazing. Definitely check it out once it is released. (Side Note: This band is from Australia. If you are reading this in Australia or New Zealand, the CD is already released in these countries so you might already know how awesome it is. USA release is set for next week)

However, this group has released a single off of the album called “Gasoline”. I immediately fell in love with the song upon the first few notes. Voices are gentle and sweet, guitar is light and simple. Once the song picks up, it blossoms into this beautiful indie dance pop anthem. I can’t stop listening to it and dancing to it. I feel like the intensity of the song is just right. It’s not too light, but not too intense either. Really great stuff. It’s been an album I have been listening to while I study for finals.

Next, let’s take a quick look at the video, and I do mean quick. Video is very interesting. Very fitting for the song. Also, the singers are absolutely stunning. Both on a performing aspect and from a beauty aspect.

I’m really digging this song. This band has been my jam for the last few days now. It’s awesome, and I really hope that they play the CMJ Music Marathon festival in NYC this fall.

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it, and see what you think! Have fun and stay safe everyone.

P.S. The posts will start becoming more frequent again later this week, and for the whole summer! Also be on the lookout for a Musicbeards facebook page this summer, along with some other cool things! Bye!

Beard Jams: Uh Oh! by Super Water Sympathy

Hi again! It’s been a busy time lately, hence the lack of posts. Finals are approaching next week for myself, so I’ve been busy doing papers and studying and whatnot. Anyways, I had some free time today so I decided to make another post. Todays song is called “Uh Oh!”, and it’s by a band called Super Water Sympathy

For a while now, I’ve been enjoying this song. However, I never made a post about it! It’s a pop song (Again, not top 40 pop), and its very nice. Feels very light at times. The vocalist is pretty good. She has a very intriguing voice. Shows a great deal of emotion during the song. Lyrics are alright. They fit for this song. Instrument wise, nothing out of the ordinary for pop, pop rock. Guitars, bass, piano, drums, etc. The band never does anything super great or amazing. This song is mainly to showcase the lyrics and the vocalist. Now that I think about it, I guess a lot of pop songs serve that purpose.

Despite that, I still think it’s a very good pop track. It’s been stuck in my head for quite a while. One of my favorite parts in the song is the very ending where she saids, “Soon we will be expired.” She saids it in such a soft spoken manner, just as if time expires, (Which, it does cause thats when the song ends). Even though it’s planned, it’s one of my favorite parts of the song. Maybe it’s just because that moment introduces something new. Overall, a very nice track.

Don’t just take my word for it though, check it out and see what you think! Take care everyone. Good luck to all the college students with finals coming up. To everyone else, have a fantastic day. Bye!

Beard Jams: Found You Out by Sir Sly

Hi Everyone! How’s it going? The last few days have been really tiring and interesting for me. This morning I woke up to a police officer knocking on my door telling me to get out of my dorm because there was a gas leak. That was fun.

You know what else is fun and cool?! Todays song! It’s called “Found You Out”. It’s by an artist named Sir Sly.

I’m really digging it. It starts off really chill, but as you progress through the song, everything starts intertwining with each other and it’s really cool. The singers voice is very folky, but the music sounds like modern folk combined with a chill indie rock. It’s really interesting, and I’m really liking it

As the song goes on, it captures more and more of your attention. I definitely recommend checking it out, especially if it’s kind of cold or cloudy where you currently are. It’s cloudy where I am.

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe!

P.S. If you think there is a song I should feature on this blog, let me know! I like experiencing new music from other people as much as i like sharing my discoveries. Take care everyone!

Beard Jams: Escape by Neonfaith

What’s up everyone?! It’s friday! Hope everyone is gearing up for a stellar weekend! I get to see Highly Suspect this weekend, so I’m pretty pumped.

Anyways, todays song is entitled, “Escape”. It’s by a band called Neonfaith. They are from NYC!

This song in itself is complex, but so beautiful at the same time. I don’t mean complex as in the technical structure of the music, but rather I feel like I’m going through a story with this song.

The beginning really sets the tone, and hooks you in. It’s a cool little beat. Then it really starts to unfold and take shape.

The singers voice is quite amazing. It reminds me of a more jazzy/ blues version of the lead singer from Phantogram. Very enticing.

I like how this song starts off more upbeat than the beginning. I feel like most songs that I have heard lately have not done that, so it was a refreshing change.

The ending is nice. Just very laid back. Very nice chill electronic at the end.

Overall, this song is pretty cool. Don’t just take my word for it though. Check it out and see what you think! Have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: Where I Left You by Man Overboard

What’s going on everyone?! Today’s Song is called “Where I Left You.” It’s by a band called Man Overboard.

I’m really digging this song. It does feel a little more generic then other songs I have heard from them. Despite that, I’m still loving the lyrics and the chorus

The chorus has that typical pop-punk feel to them. Since I like pop-punk, I’m digging it.

The music video is alright as well. I really like the beginning scenes where they are on top of the roof. I also like the ending scene with all of their friends.

The part in the video where they are playing the concert didn’t flatter me. I’ve watched live videos of them live, (And I’ve actually seen part of their set in person before), but this scene felt really posed. I know they have way more energy and emotion than what they showed in the concert scene.

Going back to the song however, it’s a pretty good song. It’s not the best song I’ve ever heard from them, but it’s still catchy. It still retains that pop-punk feel to it.

They have a new cd coming out on May 28th as well! Hopefully this single was just a teaser as to how awesome this album should be. All I ask for is that I can dance/sing/jam along to it.

Don’t just take my word for it though. See what you think and listen to it for yourself! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone.
